Originally hailing from San Jose, CA Peter Bedard is a true hybrid: actor, designer, community activist, and passionate alternative health investigator/ advocate.
As an actor, you may have seen Peter on the big screen in Coffee Date, (starring Wilson Cruz, Sally Kirkland, and Jonathan Silverman), or in the upcoming Tru Loved (with Alec Mapa, Bruce Vilanch, Jane Lynch, Alexandra Paul and Nichelle Nichols) or LA Actors (co-starring with Tony Shaloub). Or perhaps youve seen his design work on the small screen on HGTVs Designer's Challenge, or live, annually, at the Beverly Hills Geary's store.
As a community activist, Peter is responsible for founding the Manzanita Street Community Garden, and creating the Myra Avenue Mural Project. Sponsored by the Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council and the Franklin Hills Residents' Association, MAMP has so far created three murals, two with the students from the Thomas Starr King Middle School, with a goal of creating a minimum of three school murals within the Myra Avenue underpass and beyond.
Having survived an astounding five near-death experiences in his lifetime, learning how to walk (again), and healing himself from a number of medical conditions over the years, Peter has now turned his attentions to his personal passion for alternative health and healing.
Somewhere at the crossroad of Dr. Andrew Weil and the daredevils from Jackass lies Peters new project, www.CreateYourHealth.com, where he will try out any alternative or traditional (indigenous) health practice he can track down. Whether they are off the shelf or off the wall acupuncture, sound therapy, shamanism, witch doctors, stone throwers, scientists Peter welcomes the opportunity to be a human guinea pig!
How long have you been interested in integral perspectives and what sparked your interest?
I've come close to dying several times and I've had to heal myself of illnesses that Western medicine just wanted to cut out or drug. I've been heavily into alternative health practices for a long time and have always combined alternative therapies with Western therapies. The ideas behind integral medicine are the foundations of many of my beliefs but I've only come across it as a formal practice for about a year now.
What integrally-oriented books, teachers, seminars, websites or other experiences have been most influential?
Dr. Andrew Weil (all his lectures, books, website info.)
Do you have specific integral practices? If so, what are they?
not at this time
What kind of integral activities are you interested in seeing happen on this network?
Not sure. My show, CreateYourHealth.com is all about giving people choices for healing which in itself is intregal medicine.
Anything else you would like to share?
Create Your Health is all about giving you choices for creating a powerful and healthier life - body, mind, and spirit. Your host, Peter Bedard, interviews healers and alternative health practitioners about what they do and then is the "guinea pig" for their demonstration of what they do and how it works!
