Integral NHNE

All quadrants, all levels, all lines, all states, all types, and beyond.

Part 1

There is a new Zeitgeist film (2009) called "Zeitgeist Movement Activist and Orientation". I will post the link below. First a few thoughts. The directionality of these films is in my view towards greater complexity and holism. This film for example, provides the viewer with what I would consider a truly beautiful vision (mostly realistic/scientific) of a future that is both of great heart (compassionate to the life on this planet) and great mind (cutting edge science and greater distinctions and capacities).

In particular, this view incorporates the idea of intimate relationships with the natural processes. Taking into account the natural systems and linking human systems to be in harmony with those natural processes. Thus, the vision in this video arises that we could have a (perhaps) internet based system that is monitoring the feed-back cycles of the planet and integrating all the knowledge streams. (ecology, zoology, technology, history, philosophy ect. ect. ect.) into a super-intelligence we humans interact with. A highly integrated, integrating system that is totally openfor all to interact with.

As an integral community ourselves which of these ideas can we make use of?

If these ideas are highly useful how can AQAL be used to super-power some of these ideas. I think Zeitgeist-type ideas and AQAL ideas can be integrated to make a stronger whole set of ideas. Can we team up to sort this out. To work on an a type of AQAL(based)-Zeitgeist system? (Zeitgeist I believe has a very strong pull within the green worldview as it looks at more exterior stuff ~ so if AQAL could tie in with that, it could be a powerful upliftment for this theory as a whole).

Here is the new film...

Part 2

I want to focus my points made above a bit more. And add another video that is directly connected to the one already posted, even using some of the same footage. The ideas posited by Wilber are glorious (I love running them through my mind... there is so much beauty in these ideas). I think his ideas alone go a long way to create a more sane future. That is, the adoption of these sort of foundational philosophic concepts (at least, as of 2009) provide a method to better illuminate ones life path.

There is however, not much focus within these debates on actual technologies, work, money. That is, although I think Wilber's ideas are radically integral (far more integral than any ideas I can presently posit) I still think within the integral dialogue we need to ponder over these topics in the above sentence a little more. If we take serious (and Wilber does too) that technologies are increasing exponentially than where does that leave us in regards to work? Isn't it silly that we would be (and are) doing jobs that technologies could do far better than us. Those trumpeting the Venus Project suppose with well built cities we could reduce jobs to 10% of a cities population or less. We know we wouldn't want that now, as without jobs we'd be without money. Therefore, money is deeply interconnected with ideas laid out in the Venus Project. The proposal by those within the Venus project is that earth has an abundant supply of natural resources (if used properly, sustainably). If the living system is properly constructed (see the video below) we would have zero need for the economic system we are presently tied too, there would be no need for money. (this is a big and far-fetched sounding idea even to my ears, but is tied to the whole or complex of ideas laid out within the Venus Project).

There would be little need for law enforcement according to the theory. As many crimes presently are tied to the economic system a sense of lack is present in our society. We don't have enough on occasion and some who are desperate or who have grown up in a desperate climate (ghettos ect.) stealing and crime is a real life option. Whereas where abundance is present that need may slip away. I'll deal with this in question C.

Integral Questions about the project:

A) Does this adequately take into account the fact that humans develop through stages of consciousness? As those cozy with the Venus Project suggest the system could essentially be egalitarian as there would be an abundance of resources (why keep a car in storage when you have unlimited access to any and all cars within the society)... (remember robots construct them and the notion is we have vast resources... particularly when nanotech comes online). And with no need to compete for resources, and more free time knowledge and peace would be the prevailing atmosphere of the society. I would say this theory is integral (even taking the first person perspective into account but) from a 3rd person sort of view. (It makes sense that ones 1st person experience would be more peaceful with great education possibilities and many of the other potentials this kind of society offers). That said, an integral view is far richer in these notions and would be much better suited to flesh this territory out. Instead of looking at the kinds of 1st person experiences within this kind of society from a third person, objective approach (as is presented by the supporters of the Venus Project). How roughly would a first person perspective look from a first person view within such a society? I have some ideas, but will wait to see if any of you comment on this first.

B) What would be an integral route to the construction of such cities. It is purposed within the film that the best way to build these cities would be to start from scratch as there are too many inefficiencies within our present design. Could that really be the most integral way to rebuild? Is there any way we could reform our present societies without having to do a complete recreation. What about a radical overhaul in some sense using most of the technologies presented here? Would a complete recreation of all cities on the planet be doable in your opinion?

C) So what about peace and crime. I live in Japan presently. It is rated as the third most peaceful country on the planet by a survey I recently read (the survey took many aspect of life into account). And there are many reasons for the peacefulness of this country a few being (high levels of education, collectivist values (Buddhist ect)). One more important one that I would add is the fact that Japan has such a huge middle class. There are very few in Japan that are radically poor. The atmosphere in Japan for those who have been here is so very much unlike America... I personally have a real felt-sense experience of peacefulness living here. Likewise, this Venus project vision may be capable of this kind of peace perhaps even levels of more profound peace. (without the crazy amounts of work hours Japanese put in).

Which brings me to my final point D) A super abundance of knowledge, technologies, support and so forth suggest to me a society living from being needs not deficiency needs. A society where those living in it have more than enough. Many people perhaps coming from Kegans inter-individual stage. Where such beings

* Subject = "the interpenetrability of self-systems"
* Object = authorship, identity, ideology

In my opinion the Venus project has a mindset that needs to change or it will do more harm then good. The way they are wanting to set things up it will be a remake of "The Terminator". From my perspective they are not integrating ALL problems/solutions into this concept but rather only the one's they want to pay attention to. They very much are closed to any ideas or complaints that benefit the whole but only interested in the few - the one's that are starting it. In a way they are offering something new but are only supplying the same experience with different wrapping - this concept does not solve any problems because it can't recognize all problems yet. It's an easy fix but I don't see the will to do so at this point..

Brent, you can paste the embedded code directly into your comment and the YouTube video will play right here. Or, alternately, you can track down the link to the YouTube video and use the link button (located above the text field) to enter the URL. Worst case, send me the link and I will add it here. I would like to take a look at it...
